“Project has left the building” sounds much much better than it was, but still a milestone…..

I rolled her out today……..out into the Irish spring weather, which was surprisingly dry and warm by the way. I realise I am jumping a little ahead of where the blog is at so far, but today was important as it was the first time the engine ran since I took it out of the frame.
Now when I say I rolled her out, I mean I sorta rolled her out…

To explain….
I needed to fit the plastics to make sure everything fi tted and was ready so that they could be sent to my paint guy, but I couldn’t fit them all unless the front end was supported by the forks, so I thought, why not stick the spare wheel rim (from the donor bike) on the front and get her down off the bench and outside. And sure while I’m outside I could run the engine and check the coolant system.

She put up a little fight at the beginning (I say a little fi ght but it took almost the day) so I now sport the calf muscle bruises again, but once I figured out the diff erence between actual wiring and what the drawing showed, she ran lovely. I realise it doesn’t look like much, but for me having a wheel (all be it only a rim) on the front makes it look so much more like a bike again compared to the whole winter of parts that it was. And I suppose the improved weather is putting a rose coloured tint on it all for me.
And in fairness look at this…

HITACHI

compared to….

HITACHI

Now it’s starting to show results I think…. 🙂
